DINTON, a parish chiefly in the hundred of AYLESBURY, but comprising also the hamlet of Aston-Mollins in the hundred of ASHENDON, and the liberty of Moreton in the hundred of DESBOROUGH, county of BUCKINGHAM, 4 miles (w. S. W.) from Aylesbury, containing 817 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 17 9. 7, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church, dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, has a small portion in the Norman style of architecture. The river Tame runs through the parish; and there is a petrifying spring, called Holywell. Fossils vof the cardium and buccinum genera are found here in abundance.
