DODNASH, a hamlet, in the parish of BENTLEY, hundred of SAMFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 7 miles (S.W.) from Ipswich. A priory of Black canons, dedicated to St. Mary, was founded here, as it is said, by an ancestor of the Howard family, to which the patronage belonged from the time of Edward I. till the dissolution, when it contained a prior and three religious, whose revenue was valued at £42. 18. 8. per annum.
