DOWLISH (WEST), a parish in the hundred of
ABDICK-AND-BULSTONE, county of SOMERSET, 1 mile
(S.E. by S.) from Ilminster, containing 32 inhabitants.
The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Taunton,
and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books
at £3. 7. 6. W. Speke, Esq. was patron in 1827. The
church, which was dedicated to St. John the Baptist,
has been demolished, and the inhabitants attend the
church of Dowlish-Wake.
