DOWLISH-WAKE, a parish in the southern division
of the hundred of PETHERTON, county of SoMERSET,
1 mile (S.E. by S.) from Ilminster,, containing 319
inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the
archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and
Wells, rated in the king's books at £ 8. 9.9. W. Speke,
Esq.. was patron in 1827. The church is dedicated to
St. Andrew.
