DUCKMANTON, a parish in the hundred of SCARSDALE, county of DERBY, 3 miles (E.) from Chesterfield, containing, with Sutton, 685 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage annexed to the rectory of Sutton in the Dale, in the archdeaconry of Derby, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry. The church, which was dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, has been demolished. There is a place of worship for Independents. A charity school is endowed with £20 per annum, for teaching twenty, children. Iron-ore and coal are obtained at works called the Adelphi.
