DUNDRY, a parish in the hundred of CHEW, county of SOMERSET, 5 miles (N.W. by W.) from Pensford, containing 454 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Chew Magna, in the archdeaconry of Bath, and diocese of Bath and Wells. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, stands on a lofty hill, and has at the west end a fine embattled tower, ornamented with clustered pinnacles. On the same hill is a rude building, supposed to have been intended for a beacon. There is a trifling endowment, the gift of Benjamin Symes, in 1778, for teaching two poor boys, and another, the bequest of Joseph Ilellier, for seven girls. A fair for cattle and sheep is held on the 12th of September.
