ELDEN, a parish in the hundred of KINGS-SOMBOURN,
Andover division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
4 miles (S.E.) from Stockbridge. The living is a
rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester,
rated in the king's books at £2, and in the patronage of
John Hussey, Esq. The church, dedicated to St. John
the Baptist, is dilapidated, and unfit for service. The
parish contains only one house, occupied by a farmer.
