ELLESBOROUGH, a parish in the hundred of AYLESBURY, county of BUCKINGHAM, 2 miles (W. by S.) from Wendover, containing 581 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £11.9.7. R- G. Russell, Esq. was patron in 1825. The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul: near it, on a circular eminence, is an ancient fortification, called Belinus Castle, where tradition relates Belin resided; above it is a high hill, still retaining the name of Belinesbury. There are almshouses for four poor widowers and four widows.
