ELLINGHAM (GREAT), a parish in the hundred of SHROPHAM, county of NORFOLK, 2 miles (N.W.by W.) from Attleburgh, containing 7 60 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, with which the rectory of Little Ellingham is united, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £6. 5. 10., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty. Dover Colby, Esq. was patron in 1814. The ehurch is dedicated to St. James. There is a place of worship for Baptists.
