EMBLETON, a chapelry in the parish of BRIGHAM, ALLERDALE, ward above Darwent, county of CUMBERLAND, 8 miles (E. by S.) from Cockermouth, containing 391 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in -the archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of Chester, and in the patronage of the Earl of Lonsdale. The chapol, dedicated to St. Cuthbert, is a neat edifice, rebuilt in 181.6.
