EXTON, a parish in the hundred of FAWLEY,
Fawley division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 4
miles (N.E. by E.) from Bishop's Waltham, containing
293 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the peculiar
jurisdiction of the incumbent, rated in the king's books
at £10. 6. 0., and in the patronage of the Bishop of
Winchester. The church is principally in the early
English style, with some insertions of a later date. This
parish is within the jurisdiction of the Cheyney Court
held at Winchester every Thursday, for the recovery of
debts to any amount.
