FARINGDON, a parish in the hundred of SELBORNE,
Alton (North) division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
3 miles (S. by W.) from Alton, containing 479
inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry
and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's
books at £18. 6. Of. Lewis Cage, Esq. was patron in
1797. The church is dedicated to All Saints. Langston
harbour bounds the parish on the south and southeast.
