FARTHINGHOE, a parish in the hundred of KINGS-SUTTON, county of NORTHAMPTON, 3 miles (N.W.byW.) from Brackley, containing 476 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £16. The Earl of Wilton was patron in 1794. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. Captain Philip Thicknesse, a noted tourist and miscellaneous writer, was born here in 1719.
