FERRIBY (SOUTH), a parish in the northern division
of the wapentake of YARBOROUGH, parts of LINDSEY,
county of LINCOLN, 3 miles (W.byS.) from Barton
upon Humber, containing 453 inhabitants. The
living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry and
diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at
£12. 17. 6., and in the patronage of the Bishop of
Lincoln. The church, dedicated to St. Nicholas, is remarkable
as standing north and south. There is a
place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The Humber
bounds the parish on the north.
