FINESHADE, a parish in the hundred of CORBY, county of NORTHAMPTON, 8 miles (N. N. W.) from Oundle, containing 76 inhabitants. The living is a donative, in the patronage of C. Kirkman, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. On the ruins of Castle- Hymel, which was demolished in the reign of King John, a priory of Black canons was founded by Richard Engain, Lord of Blatherwike, in honour of the Blessed Virgin, the revenue of which, at the dissolution, was estimated at £62. 16.
