FOXLEY, a parish in the hundred of MALMESBURY, county of WILTS, 2 miles (W. S. W.) from Malmesbury, containing 71 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wilts, and diocese of Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £3. 17. S£., endowed with £10 per annum private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Lord Holland. This parish is bounded on the north by a branch of the Lower Avon. Lord Holland is Baron Holland, of Foxley.
