FRESTON, a parish in the hundred of SAMFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 3 miles (S.) from Ipswich, containing 189 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £ 6. 7. 6., and in the patronage of the Rev. J. Bond. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The village is situated on the banks of the river Orwell, and abounds with beautiful and picturesque scenery, the view of which is greatly enriched by the old ruin called Freston Tower.
