FRYSTONE (FERRY), a parish in the upper division of the wapentake of OSGOLDCROSS, West riding of the county of YORK, half of a mile ("W.N. W.) from Ferry- Bridge, containing 777 inhabitants. The living is-a discharged vicarage, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Dean and Chapter of York, rated in the king's books at £5. 19. 2., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Sub- Chanter and Vicars Choral of the Cathedral Church of York. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew.
