GLEN (MAGNA), a parish in the hundred of GARTREE,
county of LEICESTER, 6 miles (S. E.) from Leicester,
containing, with the chapelry of Great Stretton,
714 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry
and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's
books at £ 12. 14. 2. Sir G. Robinson, Bart, was patron
in 1814. The church is dedicated to St. Cuthbert.
The Leicester Union canal passes through the
parish.
