GLOOSTON, a parish in the hundred of GARTREE,
county of LEICESTER, 5 miles (N. by E.) from Market-
Harborough, containing 142 inhabitants. The living is
a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese
of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 8. The Earl
of Cardigan was patron in 1802. The church is dedicated
to St. John.
