GRENDON, a parish in the Tamworth division of the hundred of HEMLINGFORD, county of WARWICK, 3 miles (N. W.) from Atherstone, containing, with the hamlet of Whittington, 554 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £20.3.4., and in the patronage of Sir G. Chetwynd, Bart. The church is dedicated to All Saints. The Coventry canal passes through the parish, and coal mines are wrought in the neighbourhood.
