GUNTON, a parish in the hundred of MUTFORD-and-LOTHINGLAND, county of SUFFOLK, 1 mile (N. by W.) from Lowestoft, containing 87 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £5. 6. 8., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty. R. Dundas, Esq. and others were patrons in 1801. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. The parish lies on the coast of the North sea.
