GWERNESNEY, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of USK, county of MONMOUTH, 2 miles (E. N. E.) from Usk, containing 69 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Llandaff, rated in the king's books at £2. 18. 6., endowed with £200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Earl of Abergavenny. The church is dedicated to St. Michael.
