HALAM, a parish in that part of the liberty of SOUTHWELL-and-SCROOBY which separates the northern from the southern division of the wapentake of THURGARTON, county of NOTTINGHAM, 1 mile (W. by N.) from Southwell containing 310 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the peculiar jurisdiction and patronage of the Chapter of the Collegiate Church of Southwell, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £800 royal bounty. The church is dedicated to St. Michael.
