HAMMERWICK, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of OFFLOW, county of STAFFORD, 3 miles (S.W. by W.) from Lichfield, containing 218 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy annexed to the vicarage of St. Mary, Lichfield, in the peculiar, jurisdiction of the Dean of Lichfield, endowed with £600 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant, and .in the patronage of certain Trustees. The Wyrley and Essington canal passes through the parish, in which the manufacture of nails is carried on.
