HARBY, a parish in the hundred of FRAMLAND, county of LEICESTER, Sf miles (N.) from Melton- Mowbray, containing 457 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £20, and in the patronage of the Duke of Rutland. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The Nottingham and Grantham canal passes through the parish. Here are several chalybeate springs, and in the village is an ancient stone cross.
