HARPOLE, a parish in the hundred of NOBOTTLEGROVE, county of NORTHAMPTON, 4 miles (W.) from Northampton, containing 687 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £18. 13. 4. Earl Fitzwilliam was patron in 1803. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is partly Norman, and partly in the early style of English architecture. There is a place of worship for Baptists. In pursuance of an act of parliament passed in 1778 for enclosing land, an allotment was made for the support of a free school; the rental is £50 a year, for which all children who apply are educated.
