county of NORTHAMPTON, 3 miles (W. by S.)
from Rothwell, containing 184 inhabitants. The living
is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and
diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at
£15. 9.7. The Earl of Dysart was patron in 1801;
The church is dedicated to St. Botolph. Harrington
gives the titles of baron and earl to the family of Stanhope.
