HATCH-BEAUCHAMP, a parish in the hundred of ABDICK-AND-BULSTONE, county of SOMERSET, 6 miles (N. W. by N.) fromllminster, containing 245 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £13. 5. 2., and in the patronage of the Rev. W. G. Dymock. The church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, isvp, handsome edifice, consisting of a nave, aisle, chancel, and south porch, with an embattled tower at the west end: the altar-piece is a fine painting of the Descent from the Cross. There is a place of worship for Baptists. License for a market and a fair, both long since disused, was obtained by John de Beauchamp, lord of the manor, in 1301.
