HATHERN, a parish in the western division of the hundred of GOSCOTE, county of LEICESTER, 2 miles (N.W.) from Loughborough, containing 1144 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 12. G. M. Phillips, Esq. was patron in 1810. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, has received one hundred and seven additional sittings, towards defraying the expense of which the Incorporated Society for the enlargement of churches and chapels contributed £60. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
