HESSLE, a parish in the county of the town of KINGSTON-upon-HULL, locally in the East riding of the county 6 York, 5 miles (W. S. W.) from Kingston upon Hull, containing 1021 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £ 10. 7. 1., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists, also a National school and an almshouse.
