HIBALSTOW, a parish in the eastern division of the wapentake of MANLEY, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 3 miles (S. W. by S.) from Glandford- Bridge, containing 522 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Stow, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £7. 10. The Rev. J. De Chair was patron in 1814. The church is dedicated to St. Hibald; the chancel and lower part of the tower are in the early English style, and the other parts of more modern architecture. There is a place worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The Roman road of from Lincoln to the Humber passes through the parish; and about a mile eastward from the church, foundations of buildings, tiles, coins, and other Roman relics, have been discovered.
