HIGHAM, a parish in the hundred of SAMFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 4 miles (S.) from Hadleigh, containing 262 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £5.6. 8., endowed with £210 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of certain Feoffees. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The navigable river Stour runs on the south-western side of the parish, where it receives a small stream.
