HOLCOMBE, a chapelry in that part of the parish
of BURY which is in the hundred of SALFORD, county
palatine of LANCASTER, 4 miles (N.N.W.) from Bury,
with which the population is returned. The living is a
perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of
Chester, endowed with £200 private benefaction, £800
royal bounty, and £ 1000 parliamentary grant, and in
the patronage of the Rector of Bury.
