HORNTON, a parish in the hundred of BLOXHAM, county of OXFORD, 6 miles (N. W. by W.) from Banbury, containing 529 inhabitants. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The living is a vicarage not in charge, with that of Horley, in the jurisdiction of the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln in the peculiar court of Banbury. Here is a school wherein about thirty children are educated; the master's stipend arises from a rent-charge on land given by John Fox, amounting to £12. 12. per annum.
