HUISH (NORTH), a parish in the hundred of
STANBOROUGH, county of DEVON, 4 miles (N. E.) from
Modbury, containing 440 inhabitants. . The living is a
rectory, in the archdeaconry of Totness, and diocese of
Exeter, rated in the king's books at £29. 18. 11., and
in the patronage of Sir John Perring, Bart. Here is
an almshouse, endowed, in 1517, by T. Tremayne, Esq.
The river Avon separates this parish from that of Diptford.
