HUMBERSTONE, a parish in the eastern division of the hundred of GOSCOTE, county of LEICESTER, 2 miles (E. N. E.) from Leicester, containing 415 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £8, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty. The Rev. John Dudley was patron in 1794. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
