THIRSK, wapentake of BIRDFORTH, North riding of the
county of YORK, 4 miles (WvbyS.) from Thirsk, containing
273 inhabitants. The living is -a. perpetual
curacy, with that of Thirsk, in the archdeaconry of
Cleveland, and diocese of York, endowed with £800
royal bounty. The chapel is dedicated to St. Mary.
