ILLINGWORTH, a chapelry in the parish of HALIFAX, wapentake of MORLEY, West riding of the county of YORK, 2 miles (N. W. by N.) from Halifax, with which the population is returned. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of York, endowed with £450 private benefaction, £600 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Vicar of Halifax. The chapel is dedicated to St. Mary. Here is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
