KEA, a parish in the western division of the hundred of POWDER, county of CORNWALL, 3 miles (S. S. E.) from Truro, containing, with the manor of Tregavethan, 3208 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, with that of Kenwyn, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese of Exeter, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Exeter. The church, dedicated to St. Kea, was built about 1803, The Wesleyan Methodists have a place of worship here. There is a small endowment for the instruction of children; and an almshouse for eight poor persons was founded by a bequest from Mr. John Lanyon in. 1724, and endowed with an estate now producing about £ 50 per annum. This parish lies on the west of the Mopas roadstead.
