KIRBY-on-the-MOOR, a parish in the wapentake
of HALLIKELD, North riding of the county of YORK,
comprising the townships of Kirby on the Moor, Langthorp,
and a portion of Humberton with Milby, and
containing 458 inhabitants, of which number, 190 are
in the township of Kirby on the Moor, 1 mile (N. by W.)
from Boroughbridge. The living is a discharged vicarage,
in the archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of
Chester, rated in the king's books at £7 13. 6., endowed
with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal
bounty and in the patronage of the Crown. The church
is dedicated to All Saints.
