KIRKLINGTON, a parish in that part of the liberty of SOUTHWELL-AND-SCROOBY which separates the northern from the southern division of the wapentake of THURGARTON, county of NOTTINGHAM, 3 miles (N. W. by N.) from Southwell, containing 240 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the peculiar jurisdiction and patronage of the Chapter of the Collegiate Church of Southwell, rated in the king's books at £3. 13. 4., endowed with £600 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant. The church is dedicated to St. Swithin.
