KIRKTON, a parish in the South-clay division of the wapentalce of BASSETLAW, county of NOTTINGHAM, 2 miles (N. E. by E.) from Ollerton, containing 200 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Sub-Dean of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £7. 14. 9., and in the patronage of the Duke of Newcastle. The church is dedicated to the Holy Trinity.
