KNAPTON, a parish in the northern divisionof the hundred of ERPINGHAM, county of NORFOLK, 3 miles (N. E. by N.) from North Walsham, containing 312 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £13.7, 1., and in the patronage of Lord Suffield and the Master of Peter House, Cambridge, alternately. The church is dedicated to St. Peter and St.Paul.
