LAINSON, a parish in the hundred of MANSBRIDGE,
Fawley division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON,
3 miles (N. W.) from Winchester. The population
is returned with the parish of Sparsholt. The
living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry
and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at
£2. 13. 4., and endowed with £600 royal bounty. The
Rt. Hon. W. H. Freemantle and his Lady were patrons
in 1826.
