LANGDON (WEST), a parish in the hundred of BEWSBOROUGH, lathe of ST-AUGUSTINE, county of KENT, 3 miles (N.). from Dovor, containing 86 inhabitants. The, living is a rectory not in charge, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church, which was dedicated to St. Mary, is in ruins. An abbey for White canons, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Thomas the Martyr, was founded here, in 1192, by William de Auberville, which at the dissolution had a revenue estimated at £56. 6.
