LANGFORD, a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of NEWARK, county of NOTTINGHAM, 3 miles (N. N. E.) from Newark, containing 147 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, endowed with £600 royal bounty, and £ 200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Master and Fellows of Trinity College, Cambridge. The church is dedicated to St. Bartholomew. The Fosse-road crosses the parish, and the river Trent bounds it on the west.
