LANGHAM, a parish in the Colchester division of the hundred of LEXDEN, county of ESSEX, 1 mile (W. by N.) from Dedham, containing 725 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Colchester, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £17. 11. 0., and in the patronage of the Chancellor of the duchy of Lancaster. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Baptists. The navigable river Stour runs on the north of the parish. There is a small endowment for the instruction of children.
