LANGWATHBY, a chapelry in the parish of EDENHALL, LEATH ward, county of CUMBERLAND, 4 miles (N. E. by E.) from Penrith, containing 250 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, united to the vicarage of Edenhall, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Carlisle. The chapel, dedicated to St. Peter, was erected by subscription in 1718, on the site of a more ancient edifice. This chapelry is separated from the parish by the river Eden, over which is a bridge of three arches, built in 1686.
