LAWRENCE (ST.), a parish in the liberty of EAST-MEDINA, Isle of Wight division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 8 miles (S. S. E.) from Newport, containing 96 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £4, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of .Lord Yarborough. The church is only twenty feet long and twelve wide; the greater part of the parish consists of a slip of land extending about a mile and a half along the sea-shore, and forming part of the romantic tract called Undercliff.
